F1 & Top 5 things to do at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Malaysia had never been a country that was on the top of my bucket list, I’d heard about it several times but never really knew what it was all about. We decided to visit it because a close friend of mine was friends with Checo Perez (F1 Mexican racing driver) and got us some tickets to go see the F1 competition at Kuala Lumpur. We arrived at Kuala Lumpur early morning and since we were 5 friends traveling together we stayed at a local AirBnb apartment. We were very close from the city centre so here are my 5 top things to do while visitng KL:

1. Number one attraction at KL, and definitely the most instagrammable spot in the city are the Petrona Towers. They’re definitely a must on your visit to the city.
2. The Kuala Lumpur City Centre is also a great idea to visit, full of restaurants, shops and even a fountain lights show, this spot is perfect to visit during the late afternoon or even at night.
3. The Bird Park at Kuala Lumpur is also a great place, especially if you’re looking for some nature at this modern and vibrant asiatic city.
4. We went to KL mainly for the F1 so for me a must would definitely have to be the Sepang Circuit and the amazing experience of watching the F1 from a completely different perspective.
5. And finally the Batu Caves, sadly we didn’t get the chance to visit them but I’ve been told it’s a number one attraction at this city, it’s a great way to know more about culture & religion here in Malaysia.

We had a wonderful time in Kuala Lumpur, at the F1 we even got the chance to see Usher (Which we were completely unaware that would happen). A great plus of visiting Malaysia was that we were volunteering in India before, so our trip was completely unexpected and not planned at all. It was full of new experiences, sounds and flavors; we finally ate some meat! And even took a bite of some delicious ice cream! We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived, but this city definitely left us wanting more from this great country. After all the most unexpected trips are the best ones!

Malasia nunca había sido el país número uno al que yo quisiera ir, había escuchado sobre él muchas veces pero nunca realmente me había interesado en ir. Decidimos ir ya que un amigo cercano mío nos consiguió boletos para ir a la F1 con Checo Perez (Corredor de coches de la F1 Mexicano). Llegamos a Kuala Lumpur muy temprano en la mañana y ya que éramos 5 amigos decidimos rentar un AirBnb local muy cerca del centro de la ciudad. Estuvimos en la ciudad algunos días así que aquí están mis 5 top recomendaciones de qué hacer si visitas KL:

1. La número uno tendría que ser definitivamente las Torres Petronas. Son probablemente el ícono más importante de la ciudad, y si es impresionante lo altas que son.
2. El centro de la ciudad de Kuala Lumpur también es algo impresionante. Entre miles de tiendas y restaurantes, es un Asia moderno que se ve en muy pocos países.
3. El parque de pájaros en Kuala Lumpur es también una muy buena idea de visitar, especialmente si estás buscando un poco de naturaleza en esta ciudad tan moderna.
4. Nosotros fuimos a KL principalmente por la F1 así que en mi opinión el Circuito Sepang fue una de las cosas que más nos gustó del viaje. La experiencia, los sonidos y las personas de todo el mundo que se reúnen ahí hacen que sea algo inolvidable.
5. Finalmente las Cuevas Batu, nosotros no tuvimos la oportunidad de visitarlas pero sé que es una de las atracciones más importantes de esta ciudad. El aprender sobre la cultura y la religión de estos países es vital al ir a conocerlos.

Nuestro tiempo en Kuala Lumpur fue increíble,  y en la F1 tuvimos la fortuna de poder ver a Usher en concierto (ni sabíamos que iba a tocar, pero cuando nos enteramos estábamos muy emocionados). Visitar Malasia fue un plan super inesperado, ya que antes estábamos viviendo en la India de voluntariado entonces nunca pensamos llegar a ir a Malasia de un día para otro. Nuestro viaje estuvo lleno de nuevos lugares, olores y sabores! Finalmente pudimos comer un poco de carne (ya que en la India no hay) y hasta comimos helado! ( nunca puede fallar). No sabíamos qué esperar al llegar a este país pero definitivamente quedamos sorprendidos! Una vez más la vida nos demostró que los planes inesperados muchas veces terminan siendo los mejores.
